Samsung has had what feels like an unusually busy year this year. Maybe that’s because of the extra launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge that was teased during the Galaxy S25 launch and revealed in full a couple of months later, or maybe it’s because there were a few new launches on its home appliance side too.
Either way, we’ve been doing a lot of writing about the South Korean company and today we’re back, with not only the announcement of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – it’s top tier folding phone – but not one but two new flip phones too.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been revealed during the latest Galaxy Unpacked, but for the first time in the Flip’s lifetime, there’s also a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 like?
Taking a leaf out of the Motorola Razr’s playbook, Samsung has finally opted for a larger cover display on its Z Flip 7, and well, it’s gorgeous. No really, it makes a huge difference and this phone is now finally what it should be.
There’s a 4.1-inch display on the front, which has 1.25mm bezels and these are said to be the thinnest bezels that have ever been seen on a Galaxy phone. I can’t say I specifically noticed when I played around with the Z Flip 7, but perhaps that’s exactly the point – I didn’t notice them!

Flip it open and you get a 6.9-inch main display, which too has increased from the 6.7-inch internal display found on this device’s predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The plastic edging around that internal display remains, and this still looks a little cheap in comparison to the rest of this very premium device, but that’s one of the compromises you’ll find on most flip phones.
Waterproofing has been applied directly to the circuitry, Samsung told us, and the frame has also slimmed down, with this flip phone measuring just 6.5mm when closed. This was noticeable in use, offering a lovely slender device that was comfortable to hold and a real delight to look at.
What’s inside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7?
Inside, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4,300mAh battery, which Samsung claims will offer up to 31 hours of video playback. It’s larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at least so that’s a win. What is perhaps less of a win is that this device is powered by the “latest 3nm processor”, though Samsung didn’t specify which processor that was.
We suspect the lack of detail means it isn’t the Snapdragon 8 Elite like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, so we will have to wait and see if not opting for that popular flagship chipset has any kind of negative impact.

Elsewhere, there’s a 10-megapixel selfie camera at the top of the internal display, alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel main camera, both of which sit in the bottom right of the cover display. One of the Z Flip’s biggest appeals is its quirky camera features and some of those have been enhanced from previous models, while new ones have also been added.
The Z Flip 7 will offer real time filters from the cover screen, as well as enhanced portraits and a zoom slider. You will also be able to see the various camera options directly on the cover display, allowing for a better user experience and the cover screen will also support Now Bar and Now Brief, both of which launched on the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be available to pre-order from 9 July, with an on-sale date of 25 July. It will come in three colour options of Jet Black, Silver Shadow and Coral Red (pictured in this article). There will also be a Mint option available exclusively through Samsung online.
The price for the Z Flip 7 starts at £1,049. That includes 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though if you pre-order this device, you get double the storage for free. There’s also a new Try & Buy scheme where you can try a Galaxy Z Flip 7 out for up to 100 days and return it if it isn’t for you.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE comes in white and black colour options and starts at £849 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It retains the 3.4-inch cover display that you’ll find on the Z Flip 6, along with the 6.7-inch main display.
