The world of TVs is all in a tizzy following the announcement of new TV tech that’s looking to boost the performance of the top sets for 2025. I recently reported on LG’s moves – and now Panasonic has announced its flagship TVs for 2025 too. Panasonic, by its good grace, has revealed a little more about what’s powering these sets – so get ready for some tech talk.

If you don’t already know, Panasonic uses LG Display panels for its OLED televisions. That’s no secret – LG Display is one of the biggest suppliers of the actual panels, sitting at the core of big OLED brands, like Sony, Philips and even Samsung. That means that the latest hardware that you see in LG’s own televisions often appears on other models – and Panasonic has been quick off the mark to showcase this new TV tech.

The flagship OLED TV for 2025 will be the Panasonic Z95B, following on from the Panasonic Z95A that launched in 2024. This is where we get nerdy, because the Panasonic Z95A uses MLA – micro lens array – to boost the brightness and deliver its stunning visuals. I’ve seen the Panasonic Z95A next to the Panasonic Z85A (which doesn’t have the MLA layer) and you can instantly see the impact that the MLA addition has.

However, Panasonic is moving on from that tech, now using what it’s calling a Primary RGB Tandem Panel. While LG didn’t dwell on the technicalities in the announcement of the new LG OLED G5 (it just referred to Brightness Booster Ultimate technology), Panasonic goes on to say more:

While MLA plugged a gap, the latest OLED tech brings a structural change, to improve brightness and colour volume. This isn’t the first (or second) time that we’ve heard about tandem OLED panels: the iPad Pro that launched in 2024 talked about having a “state-of-the-art tandem OLED technology”.

When we reviewed that iPad, we referred to the “exceptional display” and we’re going to see the same thing happen in 2025 TVs. (As an aside, this new technology is finding its way into other products too: there’s a “Tandem OLED display” in the new Dell Pro 14, for example.)

Back to that Panasonic TV and the company says that there’s a unique ThermalFlow Cooling System to boost sustained peak performance from the Z95B – and that could end up making this a top choice for those who spend a long time sitting in front of their TV.

The Panasonic Z95B is a Fire TV, cementing the move that the brand made in 2024 and inevitably positioning this model as the most advanced Fire TV you’ll be able to buy. It hangs on to the immersive speaker setup, now with reconfigured spatial audio and tuning by Technics, while there’s wide gaming support from this high-end OLED model too.

The Panasonic Z95B will come in 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes and I’d expect the prices to be announced in May 2025.
